Surly Bartender Saison is llike springtime in a glass. This fuzzy yellow beer is anything but ordinary, there is a lot going on behind its thin gold veil. The first thing that hits you is the pungent hop aroma courtesy of the Santiam varietyof hops and its of them. The hop aroma brings to mind fresh cut grapefruit and gooseberries with a lime like finish. The saison yeast strain we chose produces lots of esters reminiscent of black pepper and fruit with an earthy note, but little of the usual Belgian like character. Light bodied with a mild malt flavor.
