This 5.5% hoppy black ale is a bit of a contradiction in terms... With huge resinous hops on the nose, oozing citrus and tropical fruits and a firm lingering bitterness, you could close your eyes and think you were drinking a powerful New Zealand or American-style India Pale Ale. But lo and behold, with the colour of a pirate’s eye-patch, it proves that not all dark beers are intense and heavy and reserved for warm winter nights by the fire. Hopped with Pacific Jade, Pacifica, Amarillo, Admiral and NZ Chinook.
