A Tripel is strong golden ale in the class of Belgian-style Abbey beers, the names of which refer to their relative strength. Single, Double, Tripel, Quadruple. Very often, a portion of their alcoholic strength comes from the addition of candy sugars which add strength but not body. Instead of candy sugar, we fortified our Tripel using Sauvignon-Blanc grapes giving it a crisp and bright melon/apple flavor which balance nicely with its spicy Sterling hops. Hence the name: Double-Vine.
