Common descriptors are This very unique rye beer is brewed with over 30 percent rye malt and low rates of the soft spicy hops. A banana-like fruity-estery aroma and flavor are typical but at low levels; phenolic, clove-like characteristics should also be perceived. This style is dark amber to brown in color, and the body is light in character. Roasted malts are evident in aroma and flavor with a cocoa/chocolate and light caramel character and a low level of roast malt astringency which is appropriately balanced with malt sweetness.
