In the 1800’s IPA, or India pale ale, got its’ name from the tradition of British brewers supplying British troops in INdia with a special pale ale made to survive the long voyage. As hops have antimicrobial properties large amounts were added to the brew to prevent spoilage. Our Belgian wheat IPA keeps the tradition of large hop additions yet with 50% wheat in the recipe to soften the flavor. A Belgian yeast strain is then used to give the beer an appropriate fruitiness with a slight spiciness.
