Russian Imperial Stout is an export style stout, which English brewers created to weather the long, ocean voyage from England to the court of Catherine II in the late 18th century. Like other export styles, this one is high in alcohol and is loaded with hops. Though we’re not shipping it past the Philadelphia suburbs, our version of this classic style is warming, rich and roasty, with a delicious dry finish. We stuff the mash tun with floor malted English barely, and load up the kettle with classic British noble hops to create our authentic Imperial Stout.
