As many of you know, every year we like to brew a little something special for the holiday season. We bottle these beers in collectible, screen printed 1 Liter swingtop bottles and offer them up in limited quantities. In 2006 it was Deranger Imperial Red, 2007 Olde Reliable Barleywine, 2008 Moose & Squirrel Russian Imperial Stout and this year…. Auld Battle Axe- a Scotch-style Ale commonly called a “Wee Heavy.” Battle Axe is a dark amber ale that went through an extra long boil creating a pronounced malt flavor. This is, of course, a fuller bodied, higher alcohol ale with a malty caramel and slight roasted character.
