ABV: 6.8 % "Sticke" is local vernacular for "secret" in Dusseldorf, Germany, where this type of beer is normally brewed, because the brewery never reveals the recipe. The brew is full-bodied and well-hopped, with a surprising balance between bitterness and caramel-malty sweetness, overlaid by notes of chocolate and roasted malt. A Sticke Alt is usually dark-copper in color, has the flavor complexity of an ale, the noble hop bouquet of a Pilsner, and the clean, mellow- smooth finish of an Oktoberfest.
