This flagship beer was the first collaboration between our three brewer-owners, Nate, Becca, and Jim. They created it for a friend who loved mixing barleywine with IPA. The result has become the signature beer of Island Hoppin’. An imperial red with full malt and hop body for an exceptionally smooth, strong ale. Ruby red color reminiscent of the eponymous Madrona tree. Dried fruit aromas lead the way to a strong, sweet, and malty beer that is dangerously sippable. Full, round mouthfeel, brightened by Zythos hops. Boozy, delicious, and a nice sipper but not to be messed with! The Old Madrona won the People’s Choice Award at the 2014 Anacortes Oktoberfest.
