Built like an Imperial Black IPA, this strong ale has been fermented with 2 strains of Saison yeast. Racked over some dark candi sugar for 3 weeks. Astonishing star anise aromas mingling with dark malts, taste is herbal and malty. Full bodied and grainy malts are merely overshadowed by hops. Aftertaste is complex and solid: sweet bitterness bonded with roastiness, yet focused and less complex than one would expect. This one is for those who enjoy our Ergot and Strato.
