Silver medal in the Commercial English style category at the 2012 Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition held in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Five years ago when the orchard owner was considering apple cider varieties, he noted Dabinett as one of the most popular apples used in making English style ciders .  Dabinett trees were planted in 2008 and in 2011 the first full crop of apples were harvested.  The result is a semi-dry English style cider, deep gold and a little cloudy; typical for this style.  Full bodied with light to moderate astringency.  Pair with a cheese plate, roasted chicken and vegetables, or a pork roast.
