The name "Battle Line" is derived from Texas history and legend. During the siege at the Alamo, Lt. Colonel William B. Travis understood the odds that faced his men and, reportedly, drew a line in the sand and gave the soldiers a chance to leave. Of the nearly 200 men under his command, only one chose to leave. Louis Moses Rose, a French mercenary, is now known as the "Coward of the Alamo".
