"This is a dark lager, that is brewed exclusively with dark malts. What is so speacial about it? Dark malts (just like "Munich" malts) produce sugars, that yeast can not ferment into alcohol and carbon. Those non fermentable sugars are the perfect nutrition for fermentation side products you do not want to have. That is why big breweries don’t touch those malts. They rather produce light lagers and then add coloring. Yes, those "beers" look dark, but they are nothing but light lagers."
