A highly traditional style of beer from Düsseldorf, Germany. “Alt” is a reference to “old” style brewing using top-fermenting yeast strains that pre-date the isolation of bottom-fermenting strains used in today’s lagers. Despite predating the lager yeasts, an alt beer’s fermenting process echoes many of those of lager beers. Slight hop notes blend with the clean malty notes as well as that characteristic German aroma that invites us in for a taste. Biscuity malt flavor with a bit of hop character and full, nutty, dry finish. Brewed as a pro-am beer in 2014 with Ryan Kopp of Steel City Brewers homebrew club. ABV: 5.2%
