We should first thank our friends at New Belgium Brewing Co. for cluing us into this incredible hop… and then selling us a butt load (technical term) of it. One of the most exciting US grown hops in years and certainly the most exciting hop to come out of Oregon in over a decade, Meridian is big tropical and citrus, without any of the sulfur of some of the more popular Yakima grown varieties. This beer starts with a big nose of orange marmalade and some stone fruits. The flavor is incredibly clean, lightly piney and drying. The finish shows how nicely this hop is anywhere you use it with a firm but balanced bitterness.
