Not long ago we got a tip about an abandoned property about two hours north of Chico. The property was formerly a commercial hop operation growing the Cluster hop varietal. Over time, the ranch fell into disarray and the manicured hops began to take on a life of their own. They went feral and climbed into the surrounding brush and trees transforming themselves into something altogether different. We hand-picked these unique wild hops and used them wet—undried—in our kettles to create a truly unique one-of-a-kind beer with bright lemony citrus notes and an herbal grassy character.
