James Squire Brewhouses around Australia are pouring something a little different this month with the limited release of James Squire’s Close Shave. A crisp, refreshing ale that showcases the distinctive and elusive El Dorado hop, it is the perfect drink to enjoy on a warm summer’s day.
At 4.9% ABV, Close Shave is a golden straw colour with a white, billowy head, and blends a malted wheat base with notes of citrus, watermelon and candy.
And the name ‘Close Shave’? Well, it was chosen because this ale only just made its brewing deadline thanks to the time it took our brewers at the Malt Shovel Brewery to secure the El Dorado hops. It’s also particularly apt because, thanks to his roguish ways, James Squire was a man more than a familiar with a close shave or two!
