The fall harvest is a time of bounteous fecundity, where many fruits, vegetables, and grains ripen at this time before the imminent arrival of harsh weather. Otto’s 6th Cork and Cage series attempts to replicate this celebration by incorporating many of these festive ingredients. An abundance of pumpkins, along with apples, sweet corn, malted sunflower seeds, buckwheat, brown sugar, and fresh hops were blended into this seasonal wheat beer, creating a “cornucopia in a bottle”. Atypical of many seasonal harvest beers, no spices were used, which results in an ale that highlights its fresh ingredients.
