A soft and mellow beer with subtle wheat and honey flavours. This very pale beer is brewed entirely from pale Australian-grown malted barley and malted wheat. Although the hopping rate is modest, there is sufficient bitterness to help balance the fairly high residual sweetness. Unlike most other honey beers currently in the marketplace, ours is bottom-fermented at cool temperature to help capture the delicate flavour of the local orange-blossom honey that is added to the kettle during the wort boiling stage. Alongside the overtones of honey on the nose and palate, the wheat component contributes a light aromatic structure to the beer and a late hop addition of the German variety, Perle, lends a gentle spiciness. Although the sweetest of the beers in the Mildura Brewery range, Honey Wheat still exhibits a refreshingly crisp character that makes it both easy drinking and more-ish.
