My rating system explained:
4.5-5.0: Heaven
4.0-4.5: World Class
3.8-4.0: Excellent
3.5-3.8: Very Good.
3.0-3.5: Good.
2.5-3.0: Average.
2.0-2.5: Mediocre.
1.5-2.0: Poor.
1.0-1.5: Terrible.
0.5-1.0: Stay Away.
In particular I focus on three points when determining my rating
1) How well I actually like the beer (If I don’t like the style its difficult for me to give the beer a 4.5)
2) Adherence to style (I may not like it - but that’s how it’s supposed to be!)
3) Originality (I love it when beers surprise me)
