I question the worth of any cigar or beer over $2 ($3 for a bomber), sporty over $2K, shovel over $5K or new big twin over $10K.
Much to the chagrin of my colleagues, cheap beer is beer and I like it! Itís cool when my local beer store has a case of 30 on sale for $7!
RB says: "This isnít about how well the beer conformed to its style definition -- itís about a measurement of your own appreciation."
I am by no means a beer expert, nor am I qualified to rate by style; my rating numbers are for my enjoyment only. Rating of 0-5 is based only on how much I enjoyed it.
IMHO, purposefully bitter hops are adjuncts which were originally used as a preservative. They add an unnatural bitter flavor and hide the real complexities of beer.
Nevertheless, I have tremendous respect for those beer experts who enjoy ipa style hops, session or not! Heheh, and how about all those ipa blended styles, HAH!
Iíll taste any beer that comes across my path, whether I like the style or not; Iíll tick it, as long as I deem it worthwhile, dollar wise. Why do you think I have so many stupid nasty IPA and impy stouts rated?
Finally, real lambics are to beer like real Harley bikes are to motorcycles.... there....ya have it, what else can be said?
