I love all kinds of beer but for me well-roundedness and good balance are two of the most important elements in beer. I prefer beer to have lots of rich malty flavour and I love hoppy traits but don’t want the beer completely dominated by hops and I prefer the flavour to be rich, complex and balanced. I generally do not care for beer where one element, such as the hops, alcohol or coffee flavour, overpowers everything else or is all there is. However, I have wide tastes in beer as in all things, love many styles, and enjoy at least some representatives of all types. It’s hard to pick a real favourite, but I lean towards English beers of all types, particularly English strong ale, bitter & ESB-types, barleywine, porter, sweet/oatmeal/milk stouts, but also pilsners and American strong ales.
