COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2019 Bevuta in bottiglia. Ottima porter. Sarà che amo questo tipo di birra. Peccato che era vicina alla scadenza. Da riprovare.

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2019 The millisecond I drank this the thought ‘this is a very decent porter’ appeared in my head. Confident balanced aroma. When drunk comforting waves of toasted coffeyish caramel maltiness assault your palate (in a nice way). If you like a stout, this is a must try.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2019 Aroma: chocolate, molasses, lots of caramel, coffee Appearance: dark color with reddish highlight and a tiny brown head. It looks just like a dark coffee. nice lacing. Taste: caramel, coffee, some burnt malt. subtle herbal hop. medium-low sweetness, medium bitterness. Palate: medium-full body, lively carbonation which makes its texture creamy. dry in finish. Overall: It is rich in malty aroma and has a beautiful appearance, but its complexity is not enough and drinkability is really low.

A lot of grinded hazelnut in the aroma with some molasses and gentle roasty hints to chocolate stuff. Dark brown in the glass, medium tan head. Taste is semi dry with a note of roasted malts fleshed out with dark chocolate, hazelnut, bit earthy background, also bit vanilla and liquorice – but beer is on the malty side. Really solid batch, but not really ass kicking as they said.
