COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Tonicio (43) - - AUG 22, 2018

clongeron (38) - - AUG 7, 2018
UPDATED: AUG 7, 2018 Brewed 2015/16 so it has aged a fair bit. Bottle pours jet black. Instant warming roasted malt aromas, biscuits. Similar in taste, whatever hops were present have smoothed out significantly. A fairly decent stout.

sharky2kx (98) - Aberdeen, SCOTLAND - AUG 7, 2018
UPDATED: AUG 7, 2018 Winter 15-16 version. Pours black with a thin, off-white head. Nose is supermilk chocolate, roasted notes, porridge, tobacco, smoke, marmalade. Heavy booze notes. Palate is thick and perfect. Wonderful carbonation. Taste is more supermilk and dark chocolate, tangy sticky toffee pudding, bananas, sweetened coffee and light acidity along with hops.

Winter 2017 edtition 355 ml bottle served in large snifter. Pours pitch brown, bright and dense, with dark beige head that lasts little but leaves a long-lingering thin layer on top. Aroma is vanilla, chicory, milk chocolate, coffee beans. Mouthfeel is soft, creamy and velvety; very low carb and intense (yet not aggressive) bitterness.
