This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Old rating rerated 14.05.2018, 12 oz bottle (best before 09.2014) shared with a college @ hotel room in Sandane:
Nice fizzy-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet sour-ish mineraly, dark sugar, metal tank, chocolate, bark, hay, minerals, dark malts, butterscotch, weeds, sour coffee, alcohol, licorice. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish mineraly, weeds, minerals, bark, anise, sour coffee, hay, paper, soil, butterscotch, fruit stones, grass. Medium bitterness, slightly watery and harsh mineraly mouthfeel. Way over the top...

Winter 2017 edtition 355 ml bottle served in large snifter. Pours pitch brown, bright and dense, with dark beige head that lasts little but leaves a long-lingering thin layer on top. Aroma is vanilla, chicory, milk chocolate, coffee beans. Mouthfeel is soft, creamy and velvety; very low carb and intense (yet not aggressive) bitterness.

12 oz bottle. Has a bizzare nose once opened but dissipates. Deep dark malts dominate. Molasses and dark chocolate with a bit of nutmeg. Really great.

Daboch (330) - Gdansk, POLAND - MAR 30, 2018
Praktycznie czarne piwo z niezłą beżową pianą. Aromat głównie gorzka czekolada i trochę nut palonych. W smaku znowu dominuje deserowa czekolada, inne nuty daleko w tle. Trochę zbyt jednostronny stout

Color negro con capa de espuma marrón de tres dedos de grosor y buena retención. Carbonatación suave. Textura cremosa. Aroma amargo, a licor. Me recuerda a una Baltic Porter, extrañamente... No encuentro chocolate alguno, no me vais a sugestionar.

The bottle opens with wisps of silver smoke. A thick, jet-jet black fluid glugs out into the glass. Fine carbonation chases a tight, beige head. The aroma is enveloped in fresh, dark chocolate. Nuanced with hints of Arabica coffee and black cherries. Walnuts, and rich sticky toffee pudding. A touch of oak and earth. Smells pretty boozy. Vanilla and brandy sauce. Stale tobacco smoke. The mouthfeel is thick, smooth, and creamy - the ideal body for imperial stout. Slightly herbal aftertaste. Medium-sweet, with a bitter finish. This is a great imperial stout - it tastes natural, has great body, and strikes a fine balance of flavours.

Nice nose with some acidous notes of cocoa and caramel. Appears very dark and looks really nice in a dark brown almost black colour. Taste is also light salmiak with lots of cocoa notes and som coffee to go on the top. Palate is high viscosity and long lasting endulging sweetness with slight agreeable bitter notes like high % chocolate. Really nice companion.
