Bottle. Dark Amber. Malty, toffeeish, some fruit & spice. Big alcohol hit. Very bitter. Dry, rather salty, bitter finish. But lasting impression is of overpowering alcohol. (2008)

Bottle at home, clearing the rot box pre house move, 24/08/16 .... big gush ... 40% bottle gone, thankfully in the sink, despite having 3 months left on its BBB ! Chestnut brown with a decent light beige cap. Nose is earthy fruits, tangy, dates, toffee, spice, horse blanket. Taste comprises fruit cake, spice, toffee, dates, tangy fruit rinds, light spice, biscuit. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, drying close with a lick of alcohol. Infected and still in date ... not great ... largely liberated down the sink!

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours ruby with no real head to speak of. Lots of flavour. Caramel, raisin, sherry and fruits. A bit over boozy.

CH-303 (2771) - Fribourg, SWITZERLAND - SEP 15, 2014
Appearance: Dark, clear brown, some red. Not much head at all.
Aroma: Tart fruit, some malt.
Taste: Surprising sourness, tart fruit, plum. Oak? Expected much more.
Bought: Beers of Europe, 500 ml, £3.79

Bottle. Dark chestnut brown - almost black, with hardly any head to talk of (just a thin light tan foam). Nose is chocolates and malt. Taste is, initially zingy, then chocolates, then malts, then a licorice. Lots of layers, until a strong, bitter chocolate finish. A big gulp gives you the shivers - a sip gives you the warmth. A beer of two halves - and both as interesting as each other.

Nicely balanced aroma with citrus and malt. Cloudy light brown colour with too much head. Nice malty flavour with brilliant smooth finish, Heavy body with low carbonation.

500ml bottle from Real Ale Corner, Brampton - Hazy ruby-brown body with a thin tan skim. Nose is plum, toasted caramel malt, a bit of estery yeast and doughiness. Dry flavour, plum, dry caramel, pine, sour orange and crab apple sour finish. Full mouthfeel. I have mixed feelings about this one.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Review for TheBeerGuy. My Goodness! This beer is extraordinary. It’s so very different to others. Expect the unexpected, an early orangey, fruity taste is blasted out of the window by mind altering sourness! The Sourness coming from Grapes, Lemons and Limes. This flavour blasts it’s way over your palate and after remains a comparitively soft and soothing bitterness. This beer is fantastic, get your hands on one!

Hanoi (1106) - Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - JAN 18, 2014
Nose: Sour notes, green apple. Taste: vinous, leather, leading to green apples, a touch of cola, toffee, oak, malt and a touch of smoke leading too slight sweetness and herbal, medicinal tones in the finish. The mouthfeel is too thin. An interesting beer, but is not really what I would expect from a dubbel.

An enormous head to this beer, bottle was foaming for 5 minutes after opening the bottle. Couldn't taste the alcohol in the beer, which for an 8% beer is an accomplishment. Couldn't taste any massive standout flavours in it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
