COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

Drucken på fat på Malmö Brygghus Belgofestival. Tack Vignale. Mycket gott!

UPDATED: OCT 9, 2018 Gorgeous dark pink colour, slick berry aroma. The palate is strikingly lacto at first, but follows through to a sweet and sour berry flavour and finishes fry.

UPDATED: OCT 1, 2018 Pours a clear, deep ruby red coloration with a small, fizzy head. Smell is quite funky and midly fruity, with notes of blue cheese, tart raspberry and a hint of citrus. Taste follows the nose, being dominated by barnyard funk and tart raspberry, with notes of blue cheese, citrus and oak. Finishes with a mouth-puckering sourness and some raspberry funk lingering in the aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation. The funk certainly is strong with this one, with a strong sourness as well, and very little sweetness coming through. The balance still works out quite well, although the fruitiness could be richer. Good, if not great, complexity with a very rich funkiness.

750ml bottle via trade with my new best friend in the Netherlands. A year and a half old. This pours hazy dark pink with a light pink colored, finely-bubbled head. Nose is tart raspberries and some light funk. Flavors similar, tart raspberries, yeast, earth, funky earth. Crisp carb and a sour, dry, raspberry finish. Excellent.

Bottle from Jan, so quite fresh. Gorgeous deep pink with light pink foam lasting a little while. Big fresh jammy sour raspberry aroma, wood. Very fruit forward at this age, lovely sour berry, light yoghurt, yeast funk. Spritzy front with a medium syrup feel, last tart raspberry. Great.

Finisz pestkowo taniczny.
