COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned - 150 cl, 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles. Named Grande Réserve in 75 cl bottles, and Magnum Grande Réserve in 150 cl bottles.
Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2019 Bottle. Aroma- very pleasant fruitiness: cherries, dactyls, raisins and figs. Subtle caramel in the background. Brown, clear, with a medium-high, good-looking head. Taste- again intensive dried fruits notes at the beginning. Then come delicate caramel and maybe even gentle touch of chocolate. Well matured, there's nothing harsh in it. Medium-bodied, with a medium-high carbonation. Great, distinct and elegant beer.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2019 Blue apparently called 2018. Hmm. Don't really matters - this is a beer you can just drink with pleasure. Dark see through with some bubbles. Not much foam and no aroma at all, I think. A very pleasant taste - round, full and prickly. Chimay beer at its best.

UPDATED: FEB 2, 2019 I poured it from the bottle into a tulip glass. It pours a reddish brown with a big, fluffy, off-white head and lacing. The aroma is Belgian yeast, dark fruit, and spice. The taste is yeast, raisins, dates, chocolate, plum, and some alcohol. It's smooth and has a somewhat creamy texture. It is a nice sipping beer.

happydaddy (121) - NETHERLANDS - JAN 18, 2019
UPDATED: JAN 18, 2019 Pours dark brown, almost black, with a tan head. Aromas include yeast and are very nice and well balanced, smooth and rounded with no particular ones sticking out. Flavours are spicy, malty, somewhat fruity, yeasty, just a tiny bit too much alcohol feel but that might be me. Full body, long finish.

BineMeister25 (51) - Barcelona, SPAIN - JAN 15, 2019
