From Jan 2008 I got this bottle in a trade with Wasatch. Thanks John! It pours from 12oz bottle a slightly hazy medium gold/brown with a very small head of foam that left the scene quickly. Just a ring around the glass and some spotting left after about a minute. The smell is about equal portions of sweet malt and citrus hops. The taste on first sips gives me a very large caramel malt flavour and some alcohol. A few more sips in and the hops take their place with both grass and grapefruit and some earthy flavour is there as well. It has a medium mouthfeel and it finishes with a healthy dose of grass. A pretty good sipper here but I think the alcohol isn't as well hidden as in other brews of similar abv. Too much warming in the throat.

good looking beer.. brown/amber color, small foamy head. Smell is pretty malt heavy and sweet. Taste is quite sweet, yet smooth... could be a little more carbonated. This is not bad, but not great.

Deep amber beer with a medium foamy khaki head. Nose of candied nuts, dough, and light caramel. Flavor is quite a bit stronger with caramel malt, brown bread, and almonds finishing with a pronounced astringent bitterness. Flavorful beer.

Beer of the Month Club selection. Clear amber with a small but solid head and spotty lace. Aromas of tea, toast, toffee and hints of leather and floral hops. Caramel malts and toffee sweetness up front offset by a hop kick that adds some bitterness. Medium body and carbonation, sticky oily mouthfeel and a sweet finish.

12 oz. bb Feb 22, 2017. Clear shiny copper-amber with nice legs supporting a thin film of foam. Mild nose has some rich caramel, light toast and a hint of apple. Flavor is toffee turning to a bit of apple and citrus, then a long wood and cardboard finish. Medium-heavy body has a pleasant low-medium carbonation and shows a bit of the abv.
