Not terribly similar to the Irish-brewed version of Foreign Extra. The head is more modest, the aroma less interesting: sweet and malty, with some bread, vanilla and toffee - I'm (largely) missing roasty components. Bitterness is the foremost tongue experience, accompanied by an unwelcome sour edge and finish (albeit with a hint of cream sherry). Decent enough - but I wouldn't stock it at home. wheresthepath (2611) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - SEP 29, 2018
Bottle from Tesco. Black with a craggy beige head. Really rich, creamy mouthfeel. Milk chocolate, coffee, cream, brown bread, cherries and a light roastiness in the flavour. A touch of spice too. Unfortunately there's also some cardboard and metal - something I normally hate, but in this case it's not prominent enough to ruin the other flavours. It's pretty good actually. See Big Beer, you can make decent brews! Cheeseboard (914) - Bridgwater, Somerset, ENGLAND - JUL 9, 2018
Bottle from Tesco. Pours black with a big tan head. Aroma: burnt roasty malts, cholclate, earthy. Taste: moderate sweet, sweet roasted malts, light bitter, dark chocolate, liquorice, light coffee, ash. Medium body, ample carb, creamy mouthfeel, dry finish. UPDATED: JUL 2, 2018 Amazing stout, certainly one of the greatest bottled Guinness. Toasted notes, with clear hints of licorice and coffee, which are really balanced. Dark colors, black with a beige, fine, dense foam. MonsterMagnet (1859) - NETHERLANDS - JUN 25, 2018
Bottle received from minutemat in euro local swap 2/2018, cheers Mat! Pours black & tan. Aroma is somewhat sour with a huge candy-like sweetness with (sweet) liquorice emerging behind it, quite estery, almost like a Belgian yeast is used. Taste has liquorice, salmiakki, tobacco, some spices (nutmeg, ginger?), cherry liqueur even? It is very sweet and somewhat salty. It's a weird one, there are some things I like, but it's a bit too much and too sweet.
