First brewed in Tacuba, Mexico in 1925, Modelo Negra, formerly Negra Modelo, is a medium-bodied lager with slow-roasted caramel malts brewed for a rich, smooth taste. Brewed longer to enhance its flavors, Modelo Negra redefines "Dark Beer" because it is exceptionally drinkable and remarkably smooth. This Munich Dunkel-style Lager is brewed with galena and super galena hops as well as caramel malt, black malt and two and six row malt barley. These ingredients are meticulously brewed together to give Modelo Negra that bright, rich, amber hue and that iconic, medium-bodied flavor.

Bottled. Dark clear body, big beige head. The aroma has sweet corn, the flavour is spicy and malty.

Bottiglia.

Dark amber color with a off-white to tan head, that sinks to a ring. Foam clings a bit. Aroma of biscuit, faint caramel, toasted. Ok flavor with hints of dark fruit, toasty, and slightly bitter. Feel is smooth, but thin. Better than expected taste, with a dry and somewhat bitter finish. Odd aftertaste. Overall, better than expected for a commercial Mexican lager.

UPDATED: JUN 23, 2018 6/22/18 At Ross’s house with Sarah and Jenny. Nice and dark with a cool bottle. Minimal head that dissipates to nothing pretty quickly. Nose is dark, lager malt. Halfway between a lager and a stout. Fair amount of roasty notes. Taste follows with lager and roasty malt flavors. Very light and crisp but substantial flavor. Like a Yuengling with the flavor of a Guinness Crisp medium-light palate with plenty to savor but goes down easy. Finishes more like a lager than a big dark beer. Overall, amazing! Excellent big flavor with macro lager drinkablility. A new favorite!

Served on tap at tree chiles. Amber color with a white head. Smells like lime because that is what was on top of it. Bland grain malt flavor. I accidentally made an audible blah noise after the first sip at the restraunt. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: JUN 6, 2018 Bottle to tulip glass, give it a fair chance. Aroma is very light caramel and earthy hop. Clear dark Amber with Medium tan head. Flavor extremely light caramel malt, A little corn, and modest bitterness. Faint cardboard. Dry finish. Mid high carbonation. Tried it because it supposedly was a Vienna Lager but it's an International Amber Lager.

24 oz can poured into a pint glass. Nice refreshing dark lager that was earned after a long mountain bike ride. Cold and refreshing. Very sessionable. Better than expected.
