Produced in the tradition of 18th Century English brewers who supplied the court of Russia’s Catherine the Great, Old Rasputin seems to develop a cult following wherever it goes. It’s a rich, intense brew with big complex flavors and a warming finish.

The Old Rasputin brand image is a drawing of Rasputin with a phrase in Russian encircling it—A sincere friend is not born instantly.

Deep ruby-brown colour with a small tan head. Rich, complex aroma with notes of chocolate, coffee, vanilla and liquorice. Flavour is equally complex - bittersweet chocolate, roasty coffee, whiskey & brandy, and a warm, bitter finish. Remarkable stuff.

Bottle @ Stout NYC. Pours black with medium foamy off-white head. Coffee, vanilla, cocoa, burned sugar notes. Full body, oily texture and soft carbonation.

Really dark brown color with tan head. Aroma has sweet malt notes with a bit of coffee and dark fruits. Taste is bittersweet, roasty and well balanced with a nice coffee bitterness lingering on the aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation. Really well balanced and easy drinking.

Excelente cerveza

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2018 I'm surprised I have not reviewed this beer yet, it's one of my favorite ones and I always have several in my fridge. I love everything about this beer, it pours very dark with a tan colored thick foamy head. Aromas of espresso, chocolate, vanilla, leather and bourbon. This is a beer that's best to wait a while for it to warm a little, just enough to allow the alcohol to come thru. I can taste the coffee, the chocolate and the booze. This is one awesome beer.

Bottle shared at home. Pours jet black with beige head. Nose is chocolate, cocoa powder earthy notes, all of these quite faint tbh. Its taste is somewhat bitter, showing chocolate, cocoa powder, grains and earthy notes. Light to medium bodied with soft to average carbo, certainly drinks below the ABV. It’s not a bad beer by any means, but it didn’t even come close to my expectations, sadly.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2018 Been eyeing this one for years. Finally tried it. Definitely a winner. Sweet aroma for a stout, beautiful dark color, malt and caramel notes. Better to drink quickly. Tastes sweet on the backend but bitter if you sip. This one is worth the hype.

Delicious. Bold. Intimidating. It’s like one of those people who is so fascinating that you get overwhelmed just spending 5 minutes with them, and you end up exhausted. You inevitably end up ruining it. Sigh, Yet another best-friend prospect goes begging. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Super rich creamy head. Chocolate and black coffee. Settles nicely like a heavy Stout should. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: AUG 21, 2018 I had heard a lot of positive reviews about this, and wanted to try this out. I've become a fan of stouts and this one is pretty good. Malty with some dark fruity tones. There's a bit of bitterness on the back end, but it's not too much, in my opinion. Slight boozy taste, but being a 9% beer that's to be expected. Overall, I like it and will be purchasing this again in the future.
