July 25th, 2014 - Next up in the queue for Santa Cruz Mountain’s taster flight is the amber ale, predictably dark, and foggy, though that may be an artifact of the serving glass. The aroma is on the sweeter side, directly expressing lots of caramel notes, but I detect some toffee and bubble gum as well. The flavor is sweet, too, but with pomegranate at the front. On tap @ Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing. Amber pour with a white head. Bread, toast, and a bit of grape on the nose. Some grassy hops. Kind of bland. Flavor is a touch bitter and some sweet bread, toast, and grape. Fair amount of grass hops and a hint of earth.

A not-so-bad amber. Pours a nice orange-red color with not much was. Not much smell, slightly nutty, maybe some caramel. Taste is very creamy and nutty. Had on tap at the brewery

Draft. A light amber beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of malt combined with lighter notes of caramel and butter. The flavor is sweet with notes of butter and straw, leading to a dry buttery finish. I wonder if it is a brewing flaw or a dirty draft line that the butter stems from.
