The classic German dark beer, bottom fermented ’Doppel Bock’. Full bodied with a deep dark color and rich roasted malt flavor.

Supposedly only available in USA, at least not in Germany.

Dark ruby brown color, beige head. Malty aroma, mild toffee. Light body, apples, toffee. Drying finish with a pear acidity to it. It tastes more like a heller bock or maibock to me than the more robust doppelbocks from the region (Weltenberg, Andechs or Ayinger). Pretty cool.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2018 Clear and brown with frothy head. Sweet aroma of treacle malts and a hint of soy sauce (?). Very smooth chocolatey malt taste. Very thick. Almost like Milo. Sits very well.

Chugged a 12oz of this in a few seconds. Ass drippings, malt of gay mayne. Good cock penetration. Nice and smooth. Full.

Pours a dark brown color. One finger brown head. Okay retention, good lacing.

Aroma is worchestire sauce. Bready, sweet. Sorghum. Smells odd, but very good.

Taste is malty and sweet. Sorghum. Rich and malty.

Mouthfeel is medium full. Heavy and sweet. Easy to drink.

Overall, this is great. I’m enjoying it. I would recommend, and I would buy it again.

Good doppelbock. Rich, caramel, full bodied. A touch sweet, but it works for me.

A bit much. I like malt, but this is a bit much for me. A good beer that doesnt mind if it is warm or cold - tastes great either way. Thanks for a site that doesnt force everyone to follow "their way" of rating beers according to how many pine cones and nutmeg have been added to the 150 lbs of hopes per bottle. Those sites claim to be your "advocate", but they do little other than sell ads to you and force you to bow to their "wisdom".

Bitterbill (2162) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - OCT 20, 2017
From Mar 2007 Pours from 16.9oz bottle a deep amber with a medium sized head of foam that shrinks to just a ring around the edge of the glass and a little lacing. The smell is of caramel malt. The taste on first sip has a huge malt character. Lots of roastiness and grain with just a bit of caramel. Further sips in and I'm getting some of the alcohol but it's not intrusive; also, there's some chocolate and fruitness there, mostly a plum flavour that shows up mostly near the finish which itself ends up slightly on the bitter side. It certainly is smooth enough and easy drinking so I'll have to watch it...;^) Bottom line: This is a good Doppelbock that is worthy of a try.

On tap. Roasty and slightly creamy aroma. Sharp fruity taste. Boozy finish. It's fine.
