COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the early 1900s, the village of De Panne, close to the French border, was famous for two things -- the ‘Pannepots,’ or fishing boats, that could be seen along the coast, and the unique dark ale enjoyed by the local fishermen. Our Old Fisherman’s Ale is a tribute to these hardy sailors and their rich, flavorful brew. Unfiltered. Unpasteurized. Bottle-conditioned in 33cl and 75cl.

Bottle as Vintage 2017. Pours black with light beige head. Aroma is mushrooms, beans, sweetness, bitter, dry, coffee, some oak, old barrels. Taste is roast, juicy, some sourness, light coffee, caramel, wine, dry. Light and a bit sourish version. Very nice beer!

UPDATED: OCT 24, 2018 Aroma: First it came through as a porter with noticeable chocolaty and some roasted malt aroma, and maybe, some wine-y quality. Then I got dark fruits, raisin, caramel malty typical of belgian dark strong ale. Appearance: clear (used a flashlight) darkness with a tiny brown head. Actually, it looks like a stout. Taste: raisin, prune, caramel malty. so surprised that I got chocolaty, mildly roasted, porter-like flavor. alcohol sweetness Palate: full-bodied, mild carbonation. moderate alcohol warmth. Finish is mild bitterness and sweetness. Overall: This beer is very complex and very surprising. In addition to typical Belgian dark strong ale flavors, it has really noticeable porter-like quality and subtle wine-y aroma. It's just like a 1:1 hybrid of porter and Belgian dark strong ale. One of my favorites.

Kolor ciemnośliwkowy, piany praktycznie nie ma. W aromacie dominują owoce, śliwki, winogrona, morele, nuty winne. W smaku znowu owoce dominują, kwaskowe jabłka, cydr, śliwki, wino. Alkohol bardzo fajnie ukryty. Świetne.

UPDATED: SEP 25, 2018 W zapachu ciemne owoce, czerwone wino, orzeźwiająca belgijska nuta, alkohol trochę wyczuwalny, goździki, morele, fenole, rodzynki. Piana gęsta i brunatna. Barwa czekoladowo-rubinowa. Ładny lejsing. W smaku czerwone wino, rodzynki, lekki kwasek i cierpkosc na języku. Przyjemne i pełne.

UPDATED: SEP 25, 2018 Sporo ciemnych owocow, ciezkiego czerwonego wina, drozdzy belgijskich. Przyprawy, lekki szlachetny alkohol. Fenole. Rodzynki. Ladna piana. Ponownie sporo ciemnych owocow. Wytrawne, mimo wszystko z lekka owocowa slodycza. Winne. Jarzebina. Przyprawowe. Z dlugim, belgisko-alkoholowym finiszem i nawet zauwazalna goryczka. Odpowiednie wysycenie dla stylu. Pelne w smaku.
