COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the early 1900s, the village of De Panne, close to the French border, was famous for two things -- the ‘Pannepots,’ or fishing boats, that could be seen along the coast, and the unique dark ale enjoyed by the local fishermen. Our Old Fisherman’s Ale is a tribute to these hardy sailors and their rich, flavorful brew. Unfiltered. Unpasteurized. Bottle-conditioned in 33cl and 75cl.

UPDATED: FEB 19, 2018 Fra flaske. Uklar mørkebrun uden skum. Aroma af karamel og lakrids. Fuld krop. En del sødme. Smager af lakrids, lidt mentol og karamel. En rigtig sailorbajer!

Dates. Caramel, bread, yeast, a bit of alcohol, dark brown/copper with a thin ocher head, medium body, medium carbonation, taste is very intense but balanced....classic goodness.

Second try of a 2016 bottle, after the first one had turned flat and sour. Again not much head in the pour, but happily there's fizz this time, mahogany highlights. Great aroma, port, caramel toffee that veers into chocolate then licorice, sweet dark fruits, bready malts, spices. Flavour of licorice, cherries, plums, a sweet port or sherry back half. It has a light fizz up front, a smooth syrupy follow through, it almost goes sour late but holds into a smooth bitter finish. I still don't feel this bottle was in top condition but it was great nonetheless.

Pours dark mahogany with frail diminutive head; vinous aromas on the nose; chalky bitter palate with a bitter vinous finish.

PREZENTACJA: czarne z rubinowymi przebłyskami, bez piany;
AROMAT: delikatny - wytrawne wino, koniak, karmel, trochę pieprznych przypraw, goździk, czerwony pieprz;
ODCZUCIE: ciało wysokie, krągłe, pełne, wysoko nasycone;
SMAK: gorzka czekolada, czerwone wino, wiśnie, troszkę drewna, średnia czekoladowa goryczka i kwaśny jak od wiśni posmak;
OGÓLNIE: ciekawa pozycja, ale szału nie zrobiła.
