Is this even considered a DIPA by today’s standards? Not that’s it bad. Red pour. Nose is toffee and coffee. Tastes of coffee milk syrup, red fruits, todfee, red fruit, earth, grapefruit, and orange peel. Sweet light bitters and hint of plastic on finish. Overall-very good Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - MAR 18, 2016
Treated as an American Strong Ale, this was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a semi-dark red color with a thin white head that dissipated at a nice pace. Messy lacing ran around the glass nicely.
The smell started off with some big smooth toffee to caramel sweet malts. Ruddy leafy tobacco flavors come in and dry out the aroma.
The flavor copies the smell nicely. Definitely, dry tobacco, toffee and caramel over top of some citrus and piney hops. Dried tobacco/citra aftertaste and smooth dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a nice smooth sipping quality about it.
Overall, this was a good American Strong ale that I think I could come back to. nealblind (1864) - Seattle, Alabama, USA - DEC 10, 2015
red brown pour big long lasting foam. Aroma caramel, pine, orange, brown sugar. taste clean big pine spruce slight tang of ridiculous amounts of malt. dry slight resinous palate. wish this was lighter, but I guess that’s the point.

Rated on 7-15-2015 (Bottle) When poured, this beer has a small smooth beige head that mostly diminished, hazy amber body, lively, fast rising carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is piney hops, caramel malt and fruity. The flavor is moderate bitterness, piney hops, fruity, caramel malt. This beer is medium bodied. This beer is not too hoppy tasting for the style and is a sipping beer. This beer is worth trying and definitely a beer that I would drink again. 650 ml bottle purchased at the brewery. Amber like color with some lasting head. Aroma is caramel toffee note, pine and citrus like hops. thedm (6176) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - JUL 15, 2015
The body of this beer is thick, sticky and sweet texture. Just a huge amount of caramel, toffee and sugar. The hops are here without question, pine and grapefruit with lasting bitterness after the sip. Honestly this brew feels dated, like in 2005 or 2006 this was a big killer brew, now it just seems like a overly sweet, sticky, massively hopped malt bomb. I’m leaning away from any IPA with a caramel malt base, I prefer a lighter clean grain bill.
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy fine to medium sized tan colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a typically carbonated opaque except at the edges dark red brown colored body and a spiderweb lacing. The mild aroma was malty. The sharp mild citrus vinous crisp mouth feel was strongly tingly at the start and mediumly tingly at the finish with a strong hoppy aftertaste. The sharp flavor contained notes of bitter mild citrus vinous crisp hops and malt. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again. Hansen (8595) - Assentoft, DENMARK - JUN 16, 2015
Amber coloured and hazy. Has an off-white head, lasting. Hoppy aroma, fruity, citrus. Flavor starts sweet, toasted, finish bitter. monk191 (1975) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUN 13, 2015
A nice imperial red. Pours a muddy red with a disappearing white head. Smells of fruit, vanilla and hops Taste is similar, a good amount of vanilla with a well balanced bitter finish. Pairs well with rogue creamery smokey blue. Had in the bottle.
