On tap @ Papago. A nice light orange with foamy yellow head. This beer exhibits traditional IPA aroma and flavors: citrus, pine, sharp bitterness. There truly isn’t anything that separates it from the 100’s of other IPA’s on the market...good, not great.

Light gold, small head. Decent aroma and really nice flavor. Really good for a regular IPA, easy, big floral hops, sweet malts, bite at the end but quite flavorful...I might get a growler of this to go! On tap at brewery. Taverner (1100) - San Ramon, California, USA - JAN 14, 2008
UPDATED: JUN 4, 2008 Had this cask conditioned with hops. That influences this A LOT. I have since had it non-cask conditioned and its pretty pedestrian CASK CONDITIONED:. This was the perfect IPA, with full hop flavoring, yet with a creamy smoothness that I’ve never seen in an IPA. The stuff was a nice warm pint, that laced like a doily. Golden Amber - I think they really hit paydirt with this cask conditioning. The staff told me they dry hopped the hell out of this stuff, with a bunch of hops sitting in the cask.
NORMAL: Pretty boring IPA. It’s in the WC IPA tradition, so its pretty hop forward, which I like. But nothing really striking about the hop profile. turbo (1271) - Arizona, USA - DEC 19, 2007

Sampled on draught at the Papago Brewing Company tavern in Phoenix, AZ. Pours a clear orange amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that has some good lacing. Aroma of light roasted caramel malt, some apricots orange and grapefruit zest and plenty of citrusy/pine hop character. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated with a clean IPA hob bitterness. Finish is more dry and bitter than Papago’s Imperial stout but this IPA is quite drinkable.

The beer fresh from the tap, pours a slightly hazy golden amber color with a splendiferous creamy white head that lingers long, finally after its demise, the lacing provides a concealing sheet upon the glass. Schnozzle is greeted by sweet malt, then “BLAM”, Hops all flowery and spicy, citrus like in its crispness, clean, a bodement of things to come. Start has a delightful malt presence, the hops big and spicy at the back, top is moderate in feel. Finish has a sturdy acidity, the hops omnipotent, with the sweetness continued to the somewhat dry aftertaste, a fine representative to the style. egajdzis (6574) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 26, 2007
Poured a lightly hazy, amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of skunk, floral hops, toasty malts, with a bit of toffee as well. Taste of pine, caramel malts, grapefruit, with a moderate, bitter, dry finish. TomDecapolis (4618) - Milton, Delaware, USA - OCT 25, 2007
Thanks to hopdog for sharing this growler. Pours a lightly hazy golden orange with a medium creamy off white head that left some lacing. Aroma of lots of pine, citrus a bunch of floral notes and caramel. Flavor was a bit earthy, hops, pine, citrus, cereal grains and some malt to balance. Nice bitterness level for an IPA. hopdog (12510) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 22, 2007
Growler aquired in trade with hellbilly (thanks!). Poured a medium and slightly hazy orange color wtih an average sized off white head. Aromas of ctirus, pine, floral hoppiness, and some caramel. Tastes of citrus, pine and caramel. Nice grapefruit finish. Not overly bitter with a decent malt balance. Alcohol content hidden. Very drinkable. Extra point in the overall for having such a cool name ’Hop Dog’ - I wonder where they got that from (I should have a lifetime suppy of this one!). hellbilly (3249) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - SEP 3, 2007
