651 (!) ml bottle. Black, with a thick tan head. Roasted malty aroma with coffee, licorice, woody and smoky notes. The flavour is roasted malty, with coffee, fruity burnt sugary notes, licorice, and a roasted, slightly ashy, bitter finish with a note of warming alcohol. Smooth and delicious.

Almost pitch black with very little ruby highlights. Beautiful big head, warm beige, fluffy, foamy, creamy with loads of bubbly lacing. Roasted malt aromas with chocolate notes and hints of vanilla. The flavours of the roasted malts are nicely balanced with some grassy hops, coffee. Bitterness lingers and gets stronger as you drink it. The mouthfeel is pretty wet, not really thick, but with some dryness in the finish. Very smooth overall, making this a really nice easy-drinking Russian Imperial Stout.

Bottle from LCBO. Pours an opaque deep brown colour with a beautiful 2 finger of lasting beige head. Lacing clinging to the side of the glass, leaving rings as I down the brew. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, black peppers, and some hoppy notes. Taste matches the aroma with a well balanced hoppy finish. Pine and citrus hops provide a great balance. Medium - Full bodied with high carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel. Excellent Imperial Stout.

Bottle from LCBO. Pours darker than Americas political future. Hold this up to the lamp & no light will shine through. Big nose of burnt toast, wet pipe tobacco & a little musty (like the namesakes long, damp beard). Big flavour of unsweetened chocolate, coffee & if you dig deep some unripe orchard fruit buried in the finish. Happy to find this in my Toronto liqour store. Last beer I had from these guys was their impressive Brother Thelonious (a few years back). Recommended -- this is a master class on pleasureable drinking imperial stout.

It pours opaque black; the head is caramel and marshmallow like. The aroma has notes of: chocolate, toffee, toast, charcoal, and coffee. The palate is medium bodied, and has light carbonation; the finish is long. Overall, its bland and generic.

12 ounces bottle, thanks Guillaume for the gift. Aroma: molasses, ashes, light tobacco. App: dark brown, more black than coca cola, almost black, medium frothy beige head leaving thick lacing. Taste and palate: medium to full body, creamy, velvety, light to medium sweetness, moderate bitter finish. Overall: this is good. Really good. They really master the style. The palate is almost perfect. Not too sweet, a tiny tad too bitter but really velvety. Great. Really really well done. Its rare that I could drink a stout (or RIS) in a record time but this one is so smooth thus makes it really easy to drink.

Bottle. Dark brown body, huge mocha head with excellent retention and tons of lacing. Woodsy aroma of oak, burned sugar, licorice, dark chocolate, herbs and smoked prunes. Taste of well done toast, burned coffee, cocoa liquor, licorice and lots of bitter herbs. Well-done indeed.

Bottle, LCBO. Near pitch black with persistent tan head. Beautiful chocolaty and roasty aroma, in a way succulent, with a certain juicy fruity undertone, and a bit of booziness. Tastes (moderately) chocolatey-fudgey sweet with a whole lot of roastiness, finishing in a refreshing, slightly licorice-like tingle. Some ashiness on the palate, and a bit harsh in the finish. Carbonation soft. Overall a very well made IS.

This is my 100th rating thru rate beer, had to save it for something highly acclaimed lol. this is quite good stuff tho. strong and robust, but not offensive in any manner. lots of depth and a very long lasting finish. Its great but pricey.
