Commenced brewing as Verulam Brewery behind the Farmers Boy pub in 1997. Taken over by the owners of the Lower Red Lion pub in St Albans in 2006 and brewery name changed to Alehouse, with brewing undertaken by the licensee of the Lower Red Lion. Continued to brew the former Verulam beers for the Farmers Boy. Alehouse beers brewed initially for the Lower Red Lion and sometimes also available in free houses. Ceased to brew for the Lower Red Lion when the licensee/brewer moved to the Mermaid. Brewing of Alehouse beers ceased in mid-2010, when the name reverted to Verulam Brewing, brewing just for the Farmers Boy. Brewing ceased again in 2017.
