Anyone started to make plans for Borefts this year ? |
Im arriving Fri morn and out Sunday. |
Will hit Amsterdam on Thursday evening, buy too many bottles at Bier Koning and then fail to get to bed at reasonable time for a prompt start at Borefts the next day. |

There is only the very slightest of chances that I will be able to make it this year. I’ll keep you all posted, but don’t get your hopes up. |
We’re planning on staying in Utrecht as usual but not sure of our travel plans yet. The "any Dutch station" train ticket has sadly been discontinued which complicates things. That allowed us to spend an overnight in Brussels (or anywhere else) on the way as it gave you 24 hours to complete the journey. It seems that Belgium > Netherlands trains are a bit messed up the moment (if you want to avoid the expensive Thalys). The normal "international" trains were supposed to be replaced with a new Fyra service but everything’s got fucked up. |
Originally posted by chriso Yes - was discussing the discontinuation of the ’any NL station’ ticket with a work colleague yesterday. That’s why I’m going to head to Antwerp. £80 (£70 for me and anyone who cares to book with me - one of the few perks of my job!) for a return from St Pancras, can take a break in Brussels both ways, then only E13.90 each way from Antwerp to Bodegraven (avoiding the Thalys) 2hrs 15 minute journey which only adds 30 minutes onto the fastest possible journey. |

Originally posted by Theydon_Bois Which train is it across the border from/to Antwerp? At the moment the only cross-border service from Brussels/Antwerp to Rotterdam/Amsterdam is the Thalys. There is an Intercity from Den Haag to Antwerp & Brussels (and vice versa) but it only runs between Den Haag & Antwerp at weekends. I’m not sure what the other stopping points on that route are but, even if that is an option, you have another change at Antwerp if travelling back on Sunday. The only other option is the chugger from Antwerp to Roosendaal (and that’s really slow) and pick up a Dutch train there. At least that that’s the way I understand it. Was looking into this for travelling to RBESG and, as a result of all this we’ve decided to go to RBESG in the car. Of course, I imagine the arrangements will have changed by September. So, might well take you upon your offer / join you but need to firm up dates first. Ruth is only back from a rather longer rail trip - the Trans Siberian - a couple of days before. |
Chris - yes on the Sunday you need to make an extra change heading back to Antwerp changing at Roosendaal as you say for the chugger. This still only adds on 10 more minutes to make 2 hours 25 Bodegraven to Antwerp. |
