Do we really give a toss about all this Spring Summer Autumn Winter crap anymore? Did we ever? Last time I looked there was maybe three beers that would need the season to distinguish them from similarly named beers.

This season baloney is not on the front of any of the cans I have seen, only on the back, in tiny letters. Not seen it on any pump clips for well over a year. I really don't know why we persist with it. If I was ever the first to add one of these (fat chance!) I would certainly not be troubling myself with it.

It makes for long clunky beer names, can make search results harder than they need to be to sift through, and tbh just grinds my gears for being verbose boring irrelevance.

Be nice to ditch this before the next batch of beers was released.

It used to be on bottle not seen it on any of their cans, but it is silly and adds to complicated naming

It was the name. So i dont think we should be changing it, just cause we dont like the name.

I have a can in front of me that reads "spring•summer" in tiny letters on the back. Canned a month ago

I'm looking at several cans - all added to RB with season waffle. None of them say any of this season waffle on the front of the can. So how is it part of the name?

When they were bottled it was much more prominent on the front, directly above the actual name as I can see from past checkin photos of mine on Untappd. But you're absolutely right now that they've switched to cans it's been moved to the back and in a smaller font than before so probably not considered part of the name any more.

In the past I've submitted corrections to those that didn't include Spring/Summer in the name yet had it on the can, purely for consistency reasons (i.e. when viewing the Cloudwater beer list in its default alphabetical order I could easily see the entire series and which ones I had and had not had). And they were accepted by an admin very quickly so I presume they are thinking with the same mindset.

I agree the clunkiness sucks but it does give a degree of future proofing if they happen to use the same hop varieties and whatnot next year, saves an admin having to go back and retire and edit some of the previous years while others would not need to be, which will result in an even bigger mess of inconsistency.

The DIPAs/IIPAs (post v-series) aren't part of the seasonal series so they don't have "Spring/Summer" written on if I remember correctly.

I don't actually mind how we name them going forward, but it would good if we could reach a consensus because I seem to be adding a fair amount of their recent beers myself and don't wanna create additional work for admins if they have to go and edit after.

I'm all for ditching it. We should wait for the "new season" to come around though. Which should be anytime soon, I'd have thought. On a slightly separate note, I just sent in some corrections for Cloudwater beers that could do with sorting, before we get variations on the same beers.

We've had this conversation! It isn't part of the name anymore, but I've always carried on adding the waffle, to keep them in line with all the others. Ideally, it needs the lot editing, but I very much doubt that is going to happen now.

This has been discussed between the UK Admins and a good tidy up is on the agenda, its just a case of putting the time in. Chriso has suggested a standard naming convention for Cloudwater, losing the seasonalisation, which we are going for. It's somewhere on the list of stuff to do!
