66 Kind of typical 2022 Whole Foods. Some decent local breweries, but mostly everything is in 6 packs. Some very nice barrel aged beers in larger single bottles. When the fridge runs out of room, they store the excess inventory on the hot area above the refrigerator, all your IPAs are nicely aged, before they hit the cold fridge. |
60 This whole area is cramped. A few blocks from the old Brusin' Ales, right down the block from the on/off ramps, right next to Trader Joe's & Teeter. Ample parking, but you're going to have to arm wrestle a soccer mom or get covid from a double parked Floridian first.
First impression is that this was very obviously another grocery store before Whole Paycheck swallowed it up. Entrance is cramped with quick hit veggies & fruits, some covid buffet foods, old people, etc. Find your way to the butcher in the back & make a right. Whole wall of wine, some random towers of local Burial beer & Botanist ciders, then you finally hit the wall to wall cooler of beer. It's maybe 40-50' long. Ciders & hard seltzers creeping along the right end of it. Mostly current, hyper local brews, all is packies or big bombers/750s as singles. There is a singles section right before checkout, where the pre-packed foods live, but it's sloppy & always half empty.
Better selection than the Tunnel Rd location, but way more ramped. Prices are the best in town. Cider selection is still second to Appalachian & 604, heavily slanted towards local of course. Tiny dedicated Sake display as well. You will not find anything unique here.
No one really provides service, as they're all winos or scared to death of covid, as we should.
Cheers. |
42 Whole food great!!! got some expired beer at full price ok pricing but not rotated properly or buy closeout stuff wont go back |
72 I stopped in here as I was leaving the area early in the morning and it was the only place open. Decent selection of locals. Not as extensive as Brusin’ Ales or Appalachian Vintner, but worth a stop just the same. |
74 Stopped here for some breakfast grub before going hiking. Didn’t by any beer, but looked at the selection which was just as nice and large as any Whole Foods. If you are in town and can only get here to buy some bottles you will not be dissapointed. |
90 This feels like markets did when I gre up in the 50’s-60’s. No they don’t have tons of beer, but they do have a fantastic selection of North Carolina beers, many available as single bottles. If you want the local stuff, this is the place to go.--- February 2014 - I stopped by again yesterday, found a lot to take with me (can’t get it in Cincy), and found a really friendly staff. As I was checking out, I commented that I was impressed with how carefully she was packing my singles, and she replied "We take our beer seriously here." Need I say more? |
72 Cramped! Very lived in whole foods in disguise. Had some national crafts that hadn’t heard of and a few locals that I haven’t seen elsewhere. |
70 Just a grocery store that has a decent bottle selection with some growlers brought in fresh weekly. Okay, but I’d only go on days the growlers come in or if I was already shopping there, as there are plenty of other options in the city. |
72 Run of the mill Whole Foods selection. Nothing really special to be found, but they do have some really good sales. |
68 Another whole foods. Decent selection but not as extensive as Florida. |
