Located at the back end of Borough market. Visited twice, small building that has an odd temporary feel to it with a terrace that seems to have construction of something that should be adjacent to a beach. Enough space and not many people still on both visits, it was during unpopular hours. Very friendly service. Cool display tv for beers currently available which sadly was updated with delay and a few kegs not hooked up. 4 cask beers about 12 taps with fairly interesting choices, all UK beers, several non-English. Tap selection was nice average prices. Bottle and can collection was quite impressive, I saw them getting a shipment that included Rare Barrel on my second visit. After getting a £ 10.90 440 ml. can of a Cloudwater DIPA, I shied away about inquiring about any other bottled or canned offering, bottles and cans in bars in London appeared to be always quite steep especially compared to draft offerings. Nice bar but not as great as I expected coming in. No real food. Moe tourists than locals, all real beer geek tourists.

Nice atmosphere, friendly service. Small place with patio. Guests bring their own burger and food. They have a large flat screen with the beer list, while you would expect a chalk board in a place like this.

Been here many times over the years when living and working close by, last visit most recently earlier this year. Very small place but with a pretty good selection across tap and bottle. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and I like to pop by on the odd occasion to reminisce back to times when London didn’t have as many great options as there are now. Still a solid spot and well worth a visit.

Another pub that I’ve been to many times but not rated. So, here we go. It may or may not be the smallest pub in London, but you won’t be able to move for people: the Rake’s glowing reputation precedes it. It gets crowded but the bar staff deal well with the orderly crowds. There’s 14 keg and 4 cask lines, although a few may be spent by early evening. The likes of Stone Berlin, Roosters, Fierce and Vibrant a Forest are on show today. If that isn’t enough to tempt you, the fridges packed with cans and bottles are sure to whet your whistle. The Rake also do more than their share of events: mini festivals, tap takeovers and beer releases. So always worth checking their Facebook and keeping your ear to the ground. A brilliant craft bar.

Update: worth noting that around two months ago they added 12 or so new keg taps. Plus larger fridges. The fridges are arranged by style, with said styles being written on the front in large script, making it easier to identify bottles. The two guys manning the bar were very friendly improved service score too. You can eat food from market stalls (perhaps only outside?). /// Previous review: When I fnally got around to visiting I was disappointed. Not a massive array of beers and only one other punter. The next time I was again the pretty much alone - OK it had only just opened - but this time I was served by a really grumpy barman, who was not interested in serving me. When I queried here the brewery was from the response was, "dunno." So much for a specialist craft beer pub. Will drop in but yet to see what the fuss is about (was wondering if my score would be very low but see others have made similar comments).

Bitter sweet. Love the ambiance , the atmosphere and the beers...the service is not so good and sometimes a little bit rude.

Been here on about a hundred occasions, i find the selection and service is always ok. Can never work out why it has such a good reputation, has a small draught list and the bottled beer list is very expensive. Worth a visit if you are round the area but wouldn’t bother making a long journey

It is hard to understand the exceptionally high rating that this place has but it is a small, cosy and friendly bar with a good selection on draft. The beer was nothing exceptional when I visited but good enough, and there was a rare bottle or two (though I drank them so don’t come looking for those...). The staff was very friendly but maybe not super knowledgeable... More able to guide the average punter to the right beer rather than helping a nerd finding something unusual.

Nothing special. Good selection on beers but the overall experience is very poor.
