46 Gone and probably best forgotten. The brews were pretty average cept for the scottish ale and the bock. Good when there were no alternatives, but i would hit the platform bar 9 times out of 10 over this place. |
80 Not very often do you find a owner operated pub where the owner is the brewer! Recent medals at the Australian international beer awards made us drop in for another session sampling the range of pale ales. great food and service makes this place a real find in Brisbane’s lack luster pub offerings. the Sunshine Wheat beer is the pick at the moment if a sweet wheat beer with long legs is your style. |
48 Not a bad establishment located in Brisbane city. Inside, a few pool tables, TV’s and seating areas. The food is simple pub fare so don’t expect anything fantastic. The house brews are average (about 8 on tap) though not always are they available. Little Creatures Pale Ale is readily available on tap, which is probably the highlight of the place. |
70 It is just a large room with a lot of TVs and some pool tables. The food I had there was good. I was lucky - service was friendly and prompt on several visits. 8 of their own beers on tap, as well as some other brands, and a selection of Australian domestic bottles as well. |
70 Re-rate.
Still a big loft space, with plasma screens and pool tables. The food is pretty simple but ok. The range of beers has lifted a lot recently. There is LCPA and a rotating Red Oak tap, and a range of the house beers. The Schwarzbier, Engine Pale Ale, Bitter and the Hefeweizen are all well worth it.
The brewhouse also runs a monthly beer tasting (Sunday afternoon) that is very good value.
ARRRGH, closed just as it was really hitting its straps. A shitty office block will take its place, apparently will reopen if the right venue can be found. |
32 The most disappointing thing about my visit to this place was that when I asked for the tasting tray, the bar chick poured them out and plonked them down without saying which beer was which. Pathetic, but I think she was probably pissed off because as much as she insisted their Wheat beer was meant to be served with a lemon slice I adamantly told her not to put one in! However, when I went back later and asked for a sample of the two beers that weren’t part of the tasting tray I got them for free from another staff member, so they gain a couple of points there. The atmosphere is pretty lame: one big room with pool tables, a number of TVs and way too many uni students. |
