DaveTheBeerGuy is a legend and an institution of craft beer in Calgary. Some corporate growing pains with selection but that’s the mark of success banging out beer in this city, if we’re being honest with ourselves. Still a great place to buy beer, with customer service that’s second to very few in Canada.

2017-06-19. Nice store, large. Huge selection but a lot of the Alberta brands are only available in four packs or six packs, and seem slightly pricey, particularly for stuff I really only wanted one can of to try. They had a pretty decent selection of US beers including some nice Cascade and Bruery options. Prices for the better bottles are steep - I bought much less Cascade than I would have at a lower price point for example. A couple of things were past the best before dates. Friendly staff. Would have bought more locals if they had singles. We didn’t make it to any other local bottle shops so we can’t compare, but talking to other people the lack of singles is typical many places in Alberta. A bit out of the way from downtown but easily done if you have a car.

This is a large cavernous shop on the edge of Calgary with a huge selection of everything. The beer side has plenty of refridgerated macros and some decent microbrews but not much on the local end of things - on a few items here and there that you wouldn’t find in another large-ish shop with a craft beer area. Good Belgian imports for those local seeking them out, and some seriously expensive special editions from the US. Not a bad stop but not a good one if you’re looking for local rarities.

At one point this was my local store, that was long ago and i dont remember what the hell i would have bought here. It’s a nice big store, lots of good stuff, but mostly warm, some good limited stuff, lots of locals. Overall good with friendly staff.

First time I visited here in 2011 this place had an awesome beer selection, best in Calgary, But now in 2013 there selection has gotten worst and other liquor stores have improved. They are still good, but not No.1 anymore.

Willow Park has a big selection but it can be a bit intimidating if you are new to the beer culture. They have access to a lot of different beers.

So far my favourite store in Canada. Huge selection, beer tasting events, contests and a very knowledgeable staff. They even had a beer sale when I was there. A must for anyone who likes craft beer.

Oh man my rating is just to offset the goatboys and the other industry people that bashed this place. Dave the beer guy rocks and all the agents do their best to get stuff sloted here. The best in Calgary hands down. They hold some of the best beer education. Sammy if you are reading fucking change your rating.
