84 Local dive bar with bar food and rotating beer list Plenty of parking Dim lights. Couple of bartenders. No souvenirs. Friendly locals. On beer tour. Service is good I like this place. Cheers! |
34 Appearance blah, drab and old. Selection ok. Beer prices ok. Service ok. Food portions were large buy quality was lacking. Food prices weren't great. Would not come back. |
72 Came here the first time 23.7.2017. Located in Camp Hill, 3 miles from Harrisburg down town. A very large place, a restaurant area and 2 bars. Only visited the small bar at the main road entrance. Oval bar with 4 TV screens. Was very busy on a Sunday around 4 pm. 25 beers on tap (very good selection of US craft beers and 2-3 European choices). More than 100 bottles. Some good deals for food and also for beers: all Troegs pints for 3$ on a Sunday, Ballast Point on a Friday and Victory on a Thursday. Very large food menu ranging from vegetarian to burgers also some Asian choices. I had a salmon sandwich which was quite ok. Service was attentive and friendly. Overall a good place to spend a Sunday afternoon to watch some sports and enjoy some good craft beers. Since one year they have a small brewery under the roof. Normally they serve 2 beers in the pub. Rotating all the time. |
50 An average dumpy diner with the afterthought of a bar attached to it. This place used to be the Iron Skillet, a family style restaurant. Then was sold to the current owners, that turned it into a bar. From the first week of opening I've been there about 6 times for food over the course of the Brewhouse being open. The service has varied from reasonable to complete $#!*. The food as always been terrible and over priced, but I hear people talk about how good it is. I dunno... I dont believe my expectations are outrageous. Hot food should be hot, and not take 40+ minutes for pretty much anything. Or 20 minutes after I order tell me they're out of what I ordered. Or what had to be the crappiest cheeseburger I've had in a while.
The only redeeming thing this place has going is the beer selection. It's a bit expensive, but they finally started charging 6er pricing if you buy 6 to go. I'd rather go to Wegmans or Westies for beer, so I haven't been bask to the Brewhouse for about 9 months, but I doubt it's changed. I give this place a big ol' thumbs down. |
86 I have been to the Brewhouse lots of time since it is one of my moms favorite places to eat, as well as mine. The atmosphere is pretty good, just depends on where you are sitting. The inside area has a nice sized dining room with a medium sized attached bar area with a good amount of seating around it. The deck has a large seating area and an indoor/outdoor bar area. Both the inside and outside areas have lots of TV’s and music playing to keep you entertained.
The quality has always been good. They serve most of the beers in the right type of glassware but every now and then you may get one in the wrong glass, mostly when a newer person serves it up. The food quality has always been good as well, with the ingredients always being fresh and flavorful. The service has always been pretty good but at times it can be a bit hit or miss. I have been in here when it gets a little crowded and we had to wait for quite some time to get our drinks refilled.
In the past few years they have really stepped up their selection. You won’t find anything too "rare" on every given day but every now and then you might find a keg of KBS or something along those lines popping up here. On my last visit I had a Green Flash west coast IPA and, since they were having a Troegs event, a cask dead reckoning. The prices are pretty good across the board with only a few beers being overpriced.
The real reason I like to come here is the food. I could eat their fries all day, every day. I usually get a burger or a club sandwich and both are excellent. I have also had quite a few other things on the menu but those two are by far my favorites. Overall, if you are in the area and looking for a laid back place to have some good food and good beer, you should give this place a try. |
82 Can’t believe I am the first to rate this place. Brew House has a nice selection of beers. It is not as wide a selection as some places, but between the taps and the bottle offerings, you’ll never have a problem finding something very, very good to try and they rotate their offerings enough that you can usually find something new to try each time you visit. The food is pretty good. My only complaint is that when I have been there, the waitresses I have had were not very knowledgeable about the beers. Also, they have no printed bottles list. Not cool being out to dinner with the wife and having to wade through the crowd at the bar to look in the cooler in the far corner to see what they had. Still, this has become one of our favorite places for a bite and a beer after our kids’ ballgames. |
86 The dinning area is lame and boring. The food was great, and they had some different brews that normal places did not have. My wife and I both liked it. I would have rated it higher but the building from the out side is bit dumpy, and again thr dinning area lacks luster. |
54 Bar can be found not far from the Highland Park exit on US 15 in Camp Hill. Definitely has a neighborhood bar feel, close quarters in the bar area. Around 10 TV’s near the bar, as well. I visited on a Saturday, all were showing college football, which is a good thing. Tap selection is mostly micro’s, Victory, Green Flash, Big Bear... all high quality. Looks like a large bottle selection, as well. Worth stopping by if you’re in the area. |
54 I left the night very dissapointed. The night started off with excitement after looking at their beer list. Then after being told my first two selections weren’t available, I settled on a Victory Whirlwind to go with dinner. Dinner was pretty good and was probably the highlight of the night. We later moved to the bar, where yet again, two more choices from the beer menu were not availabe. Finally I asked about the Bell’s Best Brown Ale that the were advertising on tap. The bartender told me they had it. Well, even though that is what the tap said, I ended up with a Hopslam in my glass. I may give this place a try again, but I should have gone to ABC, I know what to expect there at least. |
70 This place has gotten better over time. They actually have some really good beers now as before they would say they did on their list but always be out. Food is still a little wanting but it is worth a stop for their selection of beer. |
