Easy to find and central. Quite a small old boozer with a certain amount of charm and an insane amount of costumers. Inside was crammed, alleyway behind the bar was full, street in front of it was full with one bouncer (?) making sure that we stayed behind the tapped line and people standing across the street with their beers and wines. Someone should get hit later of sooner. This is how plenty of old school UK bars seem to roll and we are talking here about a Wednesday evening, I am always affair to see how this place is on a Friday evening. Service was despite this very prompt, average prices but I only had cask beers. Fair amount of keg & cask with some common stuff and nothing crazy but decent enough. Interesting place, I questioned the cask a bit but I don’t know enough about it make a judgment. Overall an interesting experience, nice bar but standing outside and still almost packed like a sardine was a bit much for me but interesting for once. Very close to the National Portrait Gallery amongst other things.
Crowded pub on a Friday afternoon, but quite cozy. The way you want a pub. Very friendly staff. Small selection on bottle/can but a good lineup of kegs and casks. Pop in for a pint while passing on your way to the new The Whisky Exchange store nearby...;-)
I want to like this pub more - but it’s always been so busy. Good array of more traditional beers, with the odd Kernel, etc. Staff are friendly enough. Normally expect beers to be pricey in London but was surprised last time so dropped down from my standard averagd score. I drop in if I’m passing but not somewhere I’d stay for long.
Visited the 16th February 2016 - Nice place on the central London. Good selection very interesting service is good and price are smart. What you will like is the organization of the place with upstair a room where you will feel like at home, great ambiance.
Fantastic pub that seemed to be exactly what one should look for in a British pub; small, somewhat cramped space (but endearingly so), dark wood, beautifully conditioned ales, and old school charm. Had a few Dark Stars and a Kernel beer while I was here, sat upstairs with a school group of a professor and several students, all of whom were blasted. Awesome ambiance. Very central, and I would say a must visit for tourists considering its proximity to the city’s sights. Excellent.
