Stopped in here on a Wednesday evening for an after-work dinner and beers. It’s a nondescript corner building on a busy street just outside downtown Covington, convenient to 71-75. The interior suggests a former neighborhood dive bar, and it’s been updated with some historic and German decor, cleaned up a little, and given a decent patio. The service was friendly but there was only one guy working when we went, and it got somewhat busy with what seemed to be regulars. There are awesome beer deals to be had, but of course I went for a German brew I hadn’t tried before. The food is really good stuff; giant pretzels with beer cheese and another sauce, house-made sausages, gigantic burgers, good sides - just all-around big, hearty, tasty, carb-loaded stuff. The beer list left a little to be desired; only 6 of 12 taps were full, though the bartender said they were gradually filling them up. West Sixth IPA, a seasonal MadTree, Weihenstephaner, Einbecker, PBR, and Hudy were on when I went. Ridiculously big mugs of Hudy and PBR are just a few bucks. The place has been open almost 2 years now, so they’re not going too fast in terms of filling the rest of the handles (the 12 taps in the details comes with an asterisk). There are about 30 bottles/cans, too, representing local and regional crafts, Germans, and macros. Prices overall are low for what you get. I’ll definitely be back, but I might wait a while until they get more into a groove beer-wise.

I wouldn’t go to Wunderbar for the beer, but it usually has one or two beers on tap that I will drink(mad tree, west sixth, etc) and a decent selection of german beers. Decent bottle selection also. I love the food here! Home made sausages, many with interesting herbs & spices. Fantastic brussel sprout, cabbage, etc (side dishes). Huge homemade pretzels and pretty good beer cheese. If you are near this area, make it a stop, have a beer, but definitely have the sausages with side dishes.

Small place with maybe seven or eight tables and a 10-seater bar. Music was 100% 90’s grunge! Elvis pinball machine! the service was friendly and helpful. Food was decent but on the small side, except for their GIGANTIC pretzels, geez. Beer selection was limited but German-themed for sure, focusing on the Cincinnati-German heritage with Burger, Hudepohl, Moerlein, and several helles, bocks, and wheat beers. Overall, pretty good for a place to eat, but not a ratebeerian.
