Have been back to this pubs after a gap of a couple of years. The bar food is pretty good but was put off by a visit for my Motherís birthday on which a couple of us had to send our food back as it was inedible - roast beef like leather. The range of craft\US beers is probably the best in the area, but that is one guest keg and then bottles/cans. The hand pump selection seems to be pretty conservative and I donít think theyíve ever had more than 3 of the pumps on when Iíve been in. Iíve really only ever been in on a weekday lunchtime when itís been empty, but am told by a collegue that itís busy on a Friday/weekend. What I would say though is 10/10 for the service, as staff have always been extremely helpful and chatty. They seek to acknowledge that their beers can be pricey (i.e nearly a fiver for a can of Founders), by having a can of the week and also £1 off a pint promotions at certain times. Iím basically going to rotate between this place and the Prince of Wales in Farnborough, the former having some more interesting craft options, but the latter being a better option for guest beers.

Been in here lots of time over the years, The Rose and Thistle to me is good value for food and service. However have to agree it is annoying to go in their sometimes and find that some pumps are not on.

Medium to large sized pub overlooking Frimley Green. U-shaped building, formerly L-shaped with a conservatory type extension to the left hand side as you enter. GBG listed for the last few years. 8 hand pumps but on my half dozen visits here I can never remember more than 5 actually being occupied. The classic ícoming sooní a la JDW signs seem ever present here! On my most recent visit - 05/01/13 cask beers were available from Sharps x2, Bristol Beer Factory and Leeds. A few foreign taps and bottles, whilst common and not too exciting, make for a bit more variety. Service was decent, atmposphere OK - a bit on the empty side and quite a big pub to boot! Had the Braised Ox cheek pie and mash for dinner which was pretty good. All the food my friends ordered was also well presented and tasty. Dog friendly, dartboards in situ. Certainly the best pub for good and varied beer in the area.
