It is always a pleasure to visit a proper Samuel Smith pub. Located downtown in a Tudor lookalike house. Dark wooden interiors with beer related memorabilia on the walls and etched window glass. Almost full range of Samuel Smith beers on cask, keg and bottles. The whole beer menu can be found on the tables. Friendy service. Relaxing, classic pub feel. (Pub crawl with Finn in Newport 03.10.2018).

A perfect old fashioned pub. Good value. Limited beer range.

Traditional old 16th century ale house in the centre of Newport, very much in the Sam Smith’s mould, touristy but with a hushed quietness, apart from 2 bar-staff that constantly bitched about the inefficiency of the Brewery and how they would rather be elsewhere, hopefully for the rest of us not in the hospitality industry. Took the edge off my visit for sure. Beautiful old building rather ruined by the welcome. Just Sam Smiths wares on sale.

Oasis of civility in the chaos of Newport town centre. A proper Tardis pub with a small bar in the front and a comfortable lounge in the back. It’s Sam Smith’s so I don’t need to talk you through the beer selection. Come for the atmosphere.

Laid back Sam Smiths pub that extends well back, although you wouldn’t know this from its small Tudor frontage, although this is attractive enough to make you want to come in. The drinks are of course limited to the Tadcaster Brewer’s own selection, but you should find something to suit and its cheap as chips. It’s comfortably decorated with soft furnishings throughout and you can pick and choose an intimate corner or somewhere more in the action.

Samuel Smiths pub in the centre of Newport. Now, Newport is not your real ale haven, if you happen to be stranded in Newport than this is the place to go to notch up your Samuel Smiths beers if you have not done so already. The majority if not all of the beers are available here. It claims to be Newports oldest pub dating back to 1530. Lovely interior and like all Samuel Smith pubs, lovely prices.
