54 Another large Czech-style beer hall far from the center of Hanoi. Seems an intimidating distance but is not hard to get to at all: the #14 bus leaves in front of Legends brewpub on the Hoan Kiem lake and stops at Nguyen Phong Sac St about 20 minutes later. The driver told us where to get off. From the stop it is a 5-10 minute walk on Nguyen Phong Sac. This part of town sees so few tourists that we were the day’s entertainment for many of the school children. It was fun getting out of town and the service at the brewpub is very friendly. They were in between lunch and dinner but gladly served us a large meal, which was tasty. The beers aren’t so hot, unfortunately, although the black was ok. |
48 The most remote of the brewpubs I found in Hanoi, located in the Cầu Giấy 20 minutes west of downtown. The signposting was a bit dodgy, but the place is a huge beer hall. This is clearly not a tourist destination, but the waitresses did their utmost to make sure that we could communicate. The food is really cheap by brewpub standards, and good too. The beer did however not impress me - I believe they have problems with a slight infection. |
